Reading recommendation: New Consensus paper about the importance of spinal cord stimulation for painful diabetic polyneuropathy (PDN)

The recently published consensus paper describes the entire treatment pathway for painful diabetic polyneuropathy: from diagnosis and indication to a clear treatment algorithm - and also provides useful recommendations for daily clinical practice.

The importance of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) as a necessary treatment option for refractory painful diabetic polyneuropathy (PDN) is particularly emphasized. The consensus paper also provides a valuable recommendation on when patients with refractory pain should be referred to specialized centers with experience in the use of SCS.
